HANR Rescue

Heart of America Newfoundland Rescue, Inc (HANR) is a non-profit organization recognized by the Newfoundland Club of America to protect and advance the interests of Newfoundland dogs.

Our mission is to help unwanted or homeless Newfoundland dogs by helping them find good homes. We work within the guidelines of the Newfoundland Club of America’s Rescue Committee and believe a Newfoundland dog should only be brought home after research and with careful consideration. But we also understand sometimes an owner's circumstances change and a Newf may be unsuited to its current home. This is where we can help.

HANR maintains a waiting list of pre-screened adoptive homes that are interested in acquiring a Newfoundland dog. All Newfs placed by HANR are evaluated for temperament, vet checked, and altered prior to being placed. We carefully consider the needs of the Newfoundland and prospective owners in order to make the best match. While an adoption fee is charged, it does not cover all of the costs involved in operating our rescue service so we welcome donations.

Every dog deserves a loving home and our rescues are no exception. HANR is committed to each dog we place for the life of that dog and our members are always available in case assistance is needed.
