Princess

Princess is eight years young, very friendly, happy, and moves and acts like a much younger dog. She can be a bit shy when first meeting new people, especially men, but doesn't take long to warm up to them. She has good house manners, is house trained, and goes in her crate when you tell her to. Princess enjoys car rides and walks. She does not pull on the lead and has a nice slow easy pace. She is very aware of her surroundings and will bark when she hears something that she cannot identify. She is good with other dogs and cats who live with her. She will chase strange cats. She has been checked out by a veterinarian and got a clean bill of health. She was caught up on her shots, and is now on heartworm and flea & tick preventative. Princess comes from a family in Leavenworth, KS who has had her since she was a puppy. She grew up with their children and love kids. Unfortunately the family came upon some tough times and had to give her up, which was not an easy thing to do. She has a lot of love to give and wants a family who will give her all the TLC and love she can stand. And she will give it right back to you. She is very willing to please and just eats up all the hugs and kisses you can give her. Please do not judge Princess on her age. She is very active and young for her years and will give the right family a lot of pleasure.

Ari

  • Artorius "Ari," came to us from the Warrensburg Animal Shelter in August, 2011. He was just dropped off, so his history is unknown.
  • He is a pure-bred Newfoundland and about 5-6 years old. He was in a very poor condition: extremely underweight, horribly matted coat, and very smelly from skin infections under all the mats. He does not have good teeth; the vet thinks he wore them down by chewing on a cage while being locked up. It is obvious he was poorly cared for and treated in his previous life.
  • Since being in foster care he has been cleaned, groomed, neutered, given all required vaccinations, treated for whip worms and his skin infections have cleared up. His coat is growing out but still short and rather coarse. He is still underweight, but gaining. His current weight is 85 pounds and he could use another 15.
  • He is a very loving dog. He likes to lay his head on your lap and cuddle. HE LOVES TO GO FOR CAR RIDES and sometimes needs to be coaxed to get out of the car. His favorite spot in the car is the driver’s seat.
  • He does well with other dogs and enjoys being part of a pack. He will bark to go outside and especially when he thinks he needs to come inside, which is quite often.
  • HE IS NOT AN OUTSIDE DOG.
  • He loves being around people and other dogs. He is housebroken and will wake you up to go outside. Ari does have some fear issues. He has made tremendous improvement but still has a way to go. He is insecure and fearful about what sometimes seems to be unusual things. He is hesitant around adult males. He will growl when approached from the back, when cornered or even when he is gently nudged to turn. He does not like the scale at the vet, as it is in a corner; much less the vet’s office. It takes up to 10 minutes to coax him into the building. HOWEVER, he does like the vet. Suspect most of this is fear.
  • He will follow commands to sit, down and wait to eat his food. He walks well with a collar and leash, occasionally will use gentle leader. He walks well with other dogs. He will enter his crate when told to do so, but he usually sleeps in his foster parents' room with their other Newfies (on the floor). He is okay about being crated as long as he is not left alone and there is another dog around.
  • Ari will do best in a home with another dog that is not dominant. Because of the fear issues with which he still needs work, it would be best if there were no small children in the home. If you are willing pay attention to him and help him overcome his fears, his sweet nature will win you over.
  • Ari is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and current on heartworm medication.
  • Our adoption fee is $250.00.
  • A fenced yard with a minimum height of 4-feet is required for adoption.
  • If you plan on submitting an application and you are out of our region, once your application is approved we require that you come to our area to meet the dog and foster family. If that goes well, you will be able to take your Newfie home with you.
  • Please feel free to contact us with any questions or to request an adoption application.

Geyser

Geyser is a Newfoundland dog in Lee's Summit, Missouri, who needs a home.

Geyser is a super-sweet, eight-year-old purebred, neutered, male Newfoundland. He is house-trained and he's had basic obedience training. Geyser is a true gentle giant, he loves people — young and old — and other animals. He gets up a little slowly at times, but he is healthy, up-to-date on shots, and current on heartworm prevention. Geyser has a wonderful, easy-going disposition and he likes nothing better than to be with his people.

An update about Geyser from November 16, 2011

Geyser is more active and getting around better now that he is on a good joint supplement. He loves to go for rides to new places where he can visit people and go exploring. Geyser has really been a fun boy to foster. He gets super excited sometimes and does a cute little happy dance and he is always in a good mood. He loves being petted, having his ears rubbed and gives a loving look back to you with his big black eyes in appreciation.

A few details about adopting Geyser
