Shamus came into HANR from a young couple who got him from a woman who had purchased him from an auction. When they went to look at him they found him in a very run down, crowded kennel. They felt so sorry for him, they could not leave him there, so purchased him. He was five months old, had been neutered, had all his shots and is registered as a pure bred Newfoundland.
HAPPY UPDATE! Here is Shamus in his perfect new home! Lucky dog that he is, he is now living in beautiful Colorado and loving it! He now has all the attention he wants and some great kids to play with.
From his new Mom...August 14 - Oh my goodness we couldn't have asked for a better dog. He is wonderful with the kids. Such a sweetheart. We just got home late last night. He slept all night long and when I checked on him his feet
were up in the air. Pretty cute. My son loves to walk him. My oldest daughter loves to just sit with him. My youngest gives him kisses. She is the only one that he puts his mouth on but we're working on that. He sure is a good boy though. Very very happy. He is pretty protective of our youngest. He tries to herd her in the direction he thinks she should go. Very gentle though.
August 21 - Actually Shamus has been wonderful. Him and my husband really love each other. Well we pretty much all love him. We went jet skiing on Monday and he was a great dog. Even in the
water with the kids he did awesome. There was a little bit of pawing but not too bad. Once the kids learned to tell him no and then grab his collar he had great fun pulling them around. My daughter loves to give him a bath. We have a great big water basin outside that we fill with water and he just lays there while we scrub him down. So cute. He loves to play fetch with my son now that we figured out he doesn't like tennis balls but squeky balls... But he is truly loved and spoiled here at his new home. Thanks, Naomi
