We adopted Daisy in June 2007. She was a big, needy, bundle of joy and it was love at first sight for all of us. Daisy had been with a family in the midwest until she was almost two. Bobbi and Gary took her in when she needed to be placed. They did a wonderful job of loving her and caring for her because she looked lovely when we got her a month later. She adapted to the Colorado mountains and her new family, which includes a great pyr, a ferret and two children 8 and 10. She was very high spirited and needed to be with one of us all the time. Bobbi had prepared us for that because she experienced it too.
Daisy didn't know how to play very well with our pyrenees or the children so it was a learning curve for all. We took her and the kids to obedience training where all three excelled and learned a lot. In the early days she wouldn't hesitate to knock the children over in her exuberance but now we can have numerous children running around in the yard and though she's out there with them she knows better manners. She has even learned the art of playing with her other buddy in a not so dominant and aggressive way. She is a love. Our love. We are so happy to have her in our lives.
Everything good in this life takes time, patience and love and she is worth every moment. She still doesn't interact with the ferret, although she would love to "play" with him.
She outweighs him by 148 lbs and we can't afford any "misjudgements" on her part!
We are so greatful to the Newfoundland Rescue group for finding us the perfect companion.
