The Heart of America Newfoundland Club is a pure breed dog club. We believe it is our responsibility to watch out for purebred Newfoundland dogs that are unwanted or in need of a good home. Heart of America Newfoundland Rescue, Inc., a non-profit organization, is the means by which we can help Newfs in need. Both organizations are run by the same caring, knowledgable members.

We have a network of contacts throughout our region who let us know of Newfoundlands in peril and a system for placing each dog with people who are particularly suited for that individual.

We do not purchase dogs nor do we "broker" dogs for placement. All the dogs that go through our program are found or surrendered. Each spends an evaluation period with one of our wonderful foster families.

The Heart of America Newfoundland Rescue committee happily works with other NCA Regional Club Rescue committees. The more contacts we have, the more likely we are to match each Newf with an appropriate family.

Another site that has lots of information is: NewfRescue

If you are considering surrendering a purebred Newf, please don't hesitate to contact us. We would be happy to help you in your decision process and can provide ideas for alternatives, if you would prefer to keep your dog. We understand that each situation is unique and will try to help you find the most compassionate solution. Please fill out our inquiry form or contact HANR.
